Branding a Single Upload

Your account branding sets the default look for every download page. You can also override it for one specific transfer, so a single upload can look different without changing your default. Available on the Max plan.

Account branding and per-upload branding

The customization page in your account sets your default branding, and it is applied to every download page you create. Per-upload branding lets you tailor one specific transfer on top of that. It is useful when a single client or project needs its own look.

How to customize a single upload

Open the upload you want to brand from your Uploads list, then select Customize branding in the upload settings panel. This opens an editor with a live preview of that upload's real download page, with the same controls as your account branding:

  • Appearance, theme, and layout
  • Logo, as an image or in any color
  • Background image or color

The editor seeds from your account branding to start, so you begin from your usual look and adjust only what you need for this transfer. Make your changes, then pick what Save applies to.

Save for this upload or for all uploads

The Save button in the per-upload editor opens two choices. "Save for this upload" changes only this transfer and leaves your account branding alone. "Save for all uploads" turns the look you are editing into your account branding, and this upload follows it from then on, the same as every upload without a look of its own. So if you later change your account branding again, this upload changes with it.

The info icon next to the editor title shows the same explanation while you work.

Customizing before you send

You do not have to wait until a transfer exists. In the upload panel, open Settings and select "Customize download page". The editor opens over your upload with the files you have picked, your title, and your expiry, so the preview is the page your recipient will open. Save offers the same two choices as above: "Save for this upload" keeps the look for this transfer only, stored with the upload when you get the link, and "Save for all uploads" makes it your account branding. Either way you return to Settings with the look summarized on the button. Close the editor with the X, the back link, or Escape and nothing changes.

The editor runs on desktop, like the rest of customization. On a phone the button says so and your upload carries on as normal. Everyone can open the editor and try it on their own files. On Free and without an account the Save button carries a Pro+ label, or a Max label once you add a logo, an image, or your own colors. Pressing it shows which plan the look needs, with a link to the plans page that opens in a new tab and a "Back to upload" button, so your files stay where they are. On Pro, saving an appearance, theme, and layout works, and the button carries a Max label once you add a logo, an image, or your own colors.

How your branding is chosen

For each download page, ZappFiles decides which branding to show in this order:

  • The upload's own branding, if you have customized that upload.
  • Your account-wide branding, if you have set it.
  • The default style for the selected appearance.

So an upload you have not customized always falls back to your account branding, and then to the appearance default.

Choosing an appearance for one upload

The per-upload editor also lets you pick a different download page appearance for that single transfer, separate from your account default. Your logo and background carry over to the appearance you choose.

Availability

Per-upload branding is available on the Max plan, the same as account branding.
