File Size Limits

ZappFiles lets you send large files that other platforms struggle with. The maximum transfer size depends on your plan, and that limit is the only one there is. There are no monthly caps and no limit on how many transfers you send.

This is per upload, not per file

The size limit applies to the total size of all files in a single upload, not to individual files. You can include as many files and folders as you want in one transfer, as long as the total stays within your plan's limit. Folder structure stays intact for the person downloading.

No monthly caps

Every plan includes unlimited uploads. There is no cap on how many transfers you send per month. Upload as often as you need, each one up to your plan's size limit.

Transfer size is also separate from storage. Storage is the total of all your active transfers combined, and it has its own limit per plan. Read more in storage limits.

Too big for email?

Email is where most people first hit a file size limit. Gmail and Outlook cap attachments at 25 MB, and company mail servers are often stricter than that. A transfer link gets around all of it: you upload once, send a short link, and the recipient downloads without an account. We compared the limits of every major email provider in email attachment size limits and how to beat them.

How this compares to other transfer tools

Every sharing tool caps uploads somewhere, but the caps come in different shapes: per transfer, per file, per month, or per day. These are the current limits of the tools people compare us with, checked August 2026.

ToolFreePaid
ZappFiles3 GB per transfer, 5 GB with a free account50 GB on Pro, 250 GB on Max
WeTransfer3 GB, capped at 10 transfers per monthUp to 1 TB per transfer on the top plan
Dropbox Transfer2 GB per transferUp to 250 GB on the top business plans
SmashNo cap, but transfers over 2 GB wait in a queueNo size limit
Hightail100 MB per sendUp to 500 GB on the top plan
MediaFire5 GB per file50 GB per file
ShareFileNo free tier100 GB per file
Filemail5 GB, capped at 2 transfers per day250 GB, or no limit on business plans
Slack1 GB per file1 GB per file on every plan
SwissTransfer50 GBNo paid tier

The pattern to watch for is the second cap. A generous per-transfer number often hides a monthly pool, a daily allowance, or a queue for free users. ZappFiles has one limit, the per-transfer size, and nothing else meters how much you send. For a feature-by-feature breakdown against WeTransfer specifically, see the WeTransfer alternative page.

Need more space?

If you are hitting your upload limit, consider upgrading your plan. The Pro plan gives you 50 GB per transfer, and the Max plan goes up to 250 GB. You can upgrade at any time from the pricing page.
